Something that needs to be said…

    Lebron is Legendary.

Admittedly, I am a Jordan fan and I believe Jordan is the GOAT. Also, I have to admit I was a “LeBron Hater”… kinda. I didn’t hate, hate LBJ. I just didn’t appreciate him as a greatest of all-time player. (Basically hating! LOL! When LBJ came in the league I was a HUGE LBJ fan. I love excellence and dominance in sports… any sports. Tiger Woods, Messi, Ronaldo, Jordan, Anderson Silva, Serena, Steph Curry, Kobe …etc. So, I was immediately intrigued by this phenom kid from Ohio who was billed as “the next Jordan”.

I had my doubts – I mean, how many times have we heard “the next Jordan” – but the second this kid hit the court I was like “WHOA !” this kid is for real ! I loved him – LOVED HIM! – (enough to cop a few LBJ jersey’s) until “The Decision”. Every man has a right to do what they want to do so I’m good with that. Hell, I don’t blame him for leaving… especially with the Delonte West pounding out LBJ’s mom and no one telling him about it. I would have left too! But the whole joining up with D-Wade and Bosh – conspiring to join up during the olympics – was bullshit for a transcendent player. At least, that was my opinion. When you’re the best you find a way to win. You don’t join up with other great players because you don’t want to compete. Shit, how many years did Jordan put up with a shitty team? He competed with what he had and they got better. Again, the Cavs were getting better in LBJ’s early career.

On the courts at the playground, even in the worst neighborhoods with the “so-called” worst kids, even they will break up teams that are too unfair or too dominant, and everyone wants it that way. If there are 2 seven footers on the playground, they WILL NOT be allowed to play on the same team! Also (early on) LBJ shied away from big, high pressure moments and regularly crumpled under high-pressure moments. But to be fair, he was young and had to go through that growth curve.

Just like now. As long as LBJ has a strong team… he’s good. But when things change – other teams get stronger, or his team gets weaker, he wants to leave and go to a loaded team, rather than stay and make the team stringer with HIS talent and determination. Like Miami – Not one, not two, not three, not four… remember? But when The Spurs looked unbeatable, he left… again… and went to a loaded Cavs team. Why not stay, get better and take the Spurs down? And now that the Cavs look vulnerable… he’s been putting out signs that he’s ready to leave… again… for a better team. Again, every man can do what they want. And LBJ is breaking the mold as a great business mind so I’m definitely not trying to question his decision making. I’m just speaking purely from a basketball player’s perspective.

Needless to say, those were my reasons.

By the way… the Jordan vs. LBJ argument is a little stupid.

It’s like comparing a Tiger to a Lion. Both are apex predators. Both have incredible strengths and little to no weaknesses. But they are 2 different animals, in 2 different environments, dominating 2 different types of life. Jordan is the GOAT. Nothing phased him. Nothing stopped him. Nobody shut him down. (Please don’t bring up Dumars as a Jordan stopper because sometimes he limited him to 28 point games. That’s not stopping anything.) Jordan was like the Terminator… relentless in skill and will, with emphasis on the latter. Jordan could not be stopped. LeBron is more of a physical freak of nature with a great basketball mind. Without his freakish size and unbelievable health and longevity, I don’t think LBJ would be what he is now. I don’t think it would make a difference with Jordan because it was his other-wordly will, competitive nature and determination that made him great. There have been moments when LBJ doubts himself. That NEVER happened with Jordan.

But the truth is, LeBron James is a once-in-a-lifetime prodigy. He is amazing ! I’m watching this dude during these playoffs and watching the numbers – these from outer space numbers – and it hit me… THIS MUTHA-FUCKA IS A FREAK ! I don’t believe he is better than Jordan… period. But I don’t – DO NOT – believe Jordan is “better” than Lebron at what LeBron does, either. They are different, yet equally great at what they do.

So I’m officially hanging up my LeBron “hate hat”. I’m going to sit back and enjoy this greatness while it lasts. I will not root for him over the Warriors because i am a longtime Warriors fan… way back since the Run TMC days. (And by the way, I think KD is a supreme scorer and player. but moving to the Warriors (a move I loved as a Warriors fan!) takes him out of the “Greatest of all time” argument because moving to the warriors made his title chase easier) But from here on out, I will watch LBJ’s career through a different lense… an appreciation for witnessing GREATNESS. Absolute greatness.

    Long live the King.

Sorry for the out of context post.. but I felt LBJ – and his fans – deserved it.

Also – speaking of GOATs – thanks RFM for always bringing us this hotness! Great wave!

    • I always recommend to my MJ fans to NOT compare Bron to MJ, because you’ll miss out on a GREAT player… Just let him rock. Like you said, they ain’t even the same type of player… I could understand MJ fans not wanting Kobe to get light (even though, that is stupid TOO)… But tryna stop Lebron? Why?… I love Jordan, Kobe & Bron…

      Ok NOW…

I’m with you on ALOT of what you said… But, The Spurs looked unbeatable, he left… again… and went to a loaded Cavs team. WAIT… WHAT??? THIS is the type of stuff that leaves me so confused……………………………………………………

LeBron left Cleveland in 2010 and the team (Dan was talkin’ MAD shit about) won 19 games next year… So, I guess he was supposed to stay and TOUGH that shit out…right… ? & remember, Dan was talkin’ shit about that being the BEST Cleveland team they had ever assembled & they would win a CHIP, before Bron EVER would in Miami… & They continued to STRUGGLE to win 25 games, while he was IN MIAMI… The season before he came back, they won 33 games… What the hell is LOADED about this??

And ANYONE that follows basketball KNOWS the PRIMARY reason Lebron was going away from Miami was due to Wade’s health… His knees were literally falling apart on him throughout their entire run…

To me, a LOADED team is… when that team would WRECK shit whether you were there, or NOT… So, just in comparison… I absolutely LOVE what KD is capable of… But, that EXACT Warriors teams won 73 games before he got there AND a CHIP… If Bron would have done some shit like that… I wouldn’t defend that.

KD left a SOLID team, with another SUPER star that was up 3-1 against one of the best teams EVER assembled… and Bounced to go with them the next year… That is the ONLY player move that I was totally against…

    • Mr. 30mins says:

@Phat-Ass-Loving-Fool (Both have incredible strengths and little to no weaknesses)

If you really believe Bron has little to no weakness than you don’t really pay attention to the game bro. No offense. That last game against Boston yeah he put up 40+ but I would’ve have thought for a second if they didn’t mention it. I don’t know how it’s exciting to watch a guy get all his buckets on layups and dunks, while missing about 8 shots outside of the paint.

(But the truth is, LeBron James is a once-in-a-lifetime prodigy. He is amazing ! I’m watching this dude during these playoffs and watching the numbers – these from outer space numbers – and it hit me… THIS MUTHA-FUCKA IS A FREAK ! I don’t believe he is better than Jordan… period. And This is why I feel bad for Lebron fans, because you guys deserve better.. You really do but you aren’t getting it because of this pussy ass league. Beating a team of kids, missing it’s 2 all-stars, isn’t really something to celebrate. He better beat their asses and do what he does.. no excuse.. By all accounts The Cavs should be sweeping them. But Real talk I hate the NBA now. It’s so soft.. these teams in the East are trash.

And Bron fans in my opinion have been cheated out of really watching a competitive and legendary road for him to the finals. His fans and NBA fans in general deserve it. This is why I literally can’t watch the playoffs every year. Disappoints me watching The Warriors steam roll to the finals and Bron teams taking on teams like The Pacers and going to 7 games. -Sigh- take me back to the 90’s.

@RFM (KD left a SOLID team, with another SUPER star that was up 3-1 against one of the best teams EVER assembled… and Bounced to go with them the next year… That is the ONLY player move that I was totally against…)

THE pussiest move in NBA history.
