With that being said… to put it simply… When I compare the shit Joe Budden said about Drake, this Pusha shit is just a bunch of Bullshit, that had a DOPE roll out… (with the blackface shit etc)
Budden lyrically assassinated Drake (I know MOST people & Drake fans either didn’t know, or care…) … Push had a couple of nice bars… But, it really wasn’t that creative, IMO…
I love that Push responded to Drake’s statement, by telling him that he NEVER stands up for black issues… That was DOPE, because it is absolutely true & goes directly at the fabric, of what a rapper is supposed to be about. I wish Push would have had THAT be the thesis, of his overall diss… Because, talkin’ about 40’s illness, and his dad & mom’s… and his over-seas son, didn’t do ANYTHING for me…

Diss tracks are a very complex in their simplicity (or maybe vice versa) if that makes sense… like a good hamburger. All restaurants make burgers – the most common dish in the states – and the basic ingredients are almost always the same. But some people take those same ingredients and fuck with them in such a way that the end product, the burger is world class. That’s how I view diss tracks.
Who’s the up ‘n comer? …who’s the top dog? …what’s the beef about? …how did each rapper come up the ranks? …who do they fuck wit? …what the bars sounding like? …what the disses on? …is the beat banging?…it’s all relevant. And the second I hear it, or after a few rotations, I know it’s either dope, or wack as fuck!
That being said… thumbs down on the Pusha-T joint. it was interesting, but it changes nothing. Just my take.
Also, I never really thought about Drake not being vocal about black or social issues. That nigga is everwhere, and i have never heard him speak on anything. Hmmm…
yeah, I know my Ether opinion isn’t very popular… The beat was hard… I just HATE some of the playground disses that Nas used in that diss… While JayZ’s takeover actually had me questioning certain perspectives about Nas, who might have been my FAVORITE rapper at the time…
That’s why I say, Joe Budden’s bars at Drake were 1000x better than ANYTHING Push said… Because, Budden actually had me thinkin’ shit about Drake that I never thought before… Like his tension between some of own artist… and how they seem to get held back, but ironically have tracks on Drake’s projects that sound like somethin’ that should/could have been on their own project…
